Off to Mitta Mitta... The day before....

Here it is the day before my big ride. Tomorrow I am heading off to Mitta Mitta in Victoria. I am going to the Australian Horizons Unlimited Travellers Meeting...

Three of us are going. Lilly my youngest daughter on the back with me. This is her first big road trip. When I asked her to come with me she replied ..." yes ...Yes...YEs...YES!" Helge from Norway on a R80 G/S that he bought here. This bike has turned out to have been a real dog and he has spent most of his time here doing it up. He was last here in 2006 on his R80 G/S that he shipped over from Norway ....

We plan to head down through the Nasho. Then up Lady Mac pass. Through to the HoHum, Hume Highway. Turn off just as you get into Goulburn and travel down the east side of Lake George and past Lake Bathurst. Into Queenbeyan. Then down to the Snowies. We may camp the first night at Geehi Hut.

Thursday through to Tom Groggin, through Khancoban, Through to Corryong, Bullioh and then north up to Bethanga to stay the night with Charlie Smith (AirBear)

Friday it is south down through Omeo and to the pub at Mitta Mitta where we pitch the tent out the back. Have a great time hearing about other people rides around the world and then head for home on Sunday. Sunday will be straight up the HoHum Highway as Helge wants to be in Sydney by Monday.

I know that once on the trip time will accelerate faster than normal and it will all be soon over and back to the grind of daily life.

Last time I rode interstate was in 1999 when I rode my Virago outfit to Queensland.

On a Sure Footing....

I love my BMW. More than any other bike I have owned. This doesn’t mean that it is not without its blemishes. Take the hair trigger sidestand. Known to fold up when an Alpaca herder in the Andres sneezes and the bike is in Australia. Many a BMW owner has found their bike on its side on the ground. Fairing broken. The sidestand has folded up into the raised position. Why? Because it likes to. Once the smallest amount of weigh transfers off the side stand it will fly up. Also if you have an RT type fairing as mine does you can not put the stand down when sitting on the seat. Well I can’t with my short legs. Ride impression of the Yamaha MT-03.....

Yamaha have realeased their new 660 based single. The MT-03. See I so want one....MT-03 The bike can be had in Europe but not here in Aussie land. I have asked Yamaha Australia if they will bring them in. They said "No plans at this stage to introduce the MT03 in to Australia."
