Wrench'n Ride'n

Its just tweaks now. White around "Funky Fokker". Fitted a rack to the pannier rack so the East German Army Pack can go back on. Exhaust wrap around the headlight bucket.

The nanna mufflers (Stanitunes) gone. Short black mufflers with growl fitted. Painted the collector box. Headlight that really does project light fitted. Rubber extension to front guard. Dryer face in rain now.  

Bit of sticker funk.

Yeah 2 weeks and it changed again. Wanted to see what it would look like with a small round headlight. I like.

Bit more Funky added to the Fokker. Ripped out a picture from a magazine and lacquered it to the tank. Did the final fitting to the Trumpy seat.  Re-did the tail end so the tail light is not rubbing the Trumpy seat.    

Skateboard deck that was holding the chopper seat on is splitting. Mate come to the rescue with a steal of a deal on a Trumpy seat. Love the look of the brown seat. Cheers Nigel for selling it and Paul for being deliveryman. The TS185 bars came off as they are bent. I fitted them bent. Fitted a set of high /5 bars. They are not bent. Got hold of a cheap Iron Cross mirror. Got to keep the Fokker theme going.  

Name change. Thanks to GrayDog for calling it a Spitfire and me saying more like a Fokker. RatBratScramTrackerMotard thingie that is my beemer  is now the FunkyFokker. So it needed a paint scheme. I used hammer finish Copper that looks more like it has been coated in mud. Cause my painting skills are like zero. I really like it though. Suits the whole build. Tank badge is the original WnRn logo I designed a few years back.    

Solo seat not comfy. So chopper seat back on. Remade the fly screen. Fliped the skateboard deck so when 2 up the rear tire is not rubbing the skate deck.  

Biltwell solo seat and big ugly pannier is back.   

Different. That's what I like to be. So the RatBratScramTrackerMotard thingie that is my beemer got a XJ750 headlight thrown at it.  

The hessian sack is gone. Made me itchy every time I touched it. So now I have a new/old 1970s East German Army Back Pack as a sack. Its water proof and vinyl. Stinks like I remember vinyl from the 70s.  

I need to carry stuff on the bike. So this is the third or fourth go at making a saddlebag/pannier. The wood sided one I made last tine is not strong or big enough. Nor water proof. This one is. Yep its a sack. But there is something inside that makes it waterproof and lockable.    

Don't throw it away. Re-use it. So bolted on an old Honda front guard that I had cut down for some other bike. The RatBratScramTracker thingie keeps evolving.  

Sat down and read how to balance my Bings. This time for 32mm carbs. I had been adjusting mine to 40mm specs. Was setting the air mixture screw an 1 and a 1/4 turn. Way too rich it turns out.  I have a Carbmate vacuum sync tool. I did not use it. All I did this time was set the free play in the throttle cables first. Then the idle mixture screw at 3/4 of a turn. Ride till hot. Then adjust the throttle screw for idle to 1100 rpm. Ride further. Bike is running smoother through the rev range now. Come home, put bike on main stand. Use ears at bike of bike and like the sound. Sounds balanced. It sits there purring.

Yep I really am happy with how this has turned out.  

So what did you do over the Xmas break? Eat, drink and be merry? I did a small amount of that and a huge amount of wrench'n. So seat is mounted to a cut down skateboard deck. One bolt and it comes off. 2 bolts and the old BMW seat goes back on that take pillions. Fly screen fitted and painted. Small tail light fitted as the Ford Tail light was too heavy and was braking the bracket I had made for it. The is a colour change coming for the tank. Would like some better looking mufflers too. All in the future. New saddle bag to be made. For now I am more than happy with my Rat Brat Tracker Style Beemer.

Rat Brat Tracker Style is a mouthful. That's what the Ah-8-Tee has become. Rat - cause of the old bits i have thrown at it. Brat - the seat. Tracker - the bars. Yes there is still more to be done. Old chopper seat is being fitted up to the bike. It will be inter-changeable with the old BMW seat I have. Need to be able to take wife for rides.

I bought an old chopper seat. When I bought this bike I think I said I wanted to make it a brat-tracker type thingie. I have a brat seat for it now. So I have the thin choppper (brat) seat and when I want to take my wife on the back I can put the old /6 seat back on.
