To see art...

Today Jan and I rode to Faulconbridge in the Blue Mountains. We rode down the boring F3. We detoured to MCAS so I could buy and Open Face Helmet. Bought a RJays Tomcat. Then we rode up the boring M4. We where on our way to meet friends of Jan's. Linda and John. Linda was showing her art at The Olde Block Factory Gallery in Faulconbridge. Could not take photos inside of the exhibit. Thats naughty. We had tea.  We fought lions. Then went to Lawson Pub for lunch.  Then back to Linda and Johns place at Bulburra.  John owns this. It has 15k kms on it. He did have a pristine Honda 900 Bol D'or before this one.  Then we rode home.

Roaming the Blue Mountians...Part 3

10th January. One of my last rides as a resident of the Blue Mountains. Jan and I had been up at my place sorting through some of my things. I am preparing to move in with Jan up on the Central Coast. Sunday morning dawned with an amazing sunrise. The air was clear. All setting the scene for a good ride of around 230 kilometres. We would head west first to Mt Victoria. Then over to the Bells Line of Road. Down to Windsor for lunch at Stir Crazy and have our fave Singapore Noodles. Back roads past Scheyville National Park through to Berowra Waters ferry. Then up the Old Pac to Gosford area. Most of these roads have been written about on my blog before. I will not bore you all over again. What I would like to show you some photos from several places that have such stunning views. A small dirt road turn off just before the heavy vehicle checking station between Katoomba and Mt Victoria. There are so many little villages and hamlets hidden away in the mountains. One such place we found was...

Roaming the Blue Mountians...Part 2

Today I fired up the GPS and plotted a course that would take me to Leura without having to use too much of the Great Western Highway. This Highway becomes a car park on weekends as Sydneysiders head west for a day out in the mountains. So looking at Google maps I saw some minor roads that take you along side the Highway. Plotted these into my GPS, camera around my neck off I go on the BMW. The road surface is broken up in places. Potholes with lots of gravel strewn across the road. It is very narrow at times. Care must be exercised with on coming cars on your side of the road. Sometimes you feel like you are on a roller coaster. The views are amazing. Old homes of all sorts abound. Derelict buildings of long ago stand in places declaring how grand they must have been. You miss the current road works between Lawson and Wentworth Falls. Speaking of Wentworth Falls the route takes you past Wentworth Falls Lake. Looks to be a great spot for a picnic. The wind was roaring across the lake ...

Roaming the Blue Mountians...Part 1

Just over a month ago I moved up to the Blue Mountains. A dream come true for me. Clean air. Great life style. Great people. Scenery to die for. So many historic places to visit. So on my trusty BMW I will Roam the Blue Mountains and see what I come across. First place I have had a chance to take photos at is the John Whitton Memorial at Emu Plains. I know not exactly the Blue Mountains. It is at the base of the range. John Whitton had a lot to do with railways here in NSW in the 1800s. Click on his name above to read more about him. All of these photos have been taken with my mobile phone. The remains of this sandstone dwelling are at the Memorial site. I do not know the connection between the two.
