First time in many months that #Rus-ty-too has come off the bike bench. Now to make sure everything I have put on it and or will add to it stays on it. It will get dirt type rubber.
Ride around to Gray's place. Laugh at him while he works on his bike. He fits old seat he has to Rusty. Mates are the best. That's 4 seats so far on and off Rusty. Fetish for seats? Yesterday I fitted wider tracker bars and 50 year old Gilera hand grips. Like wide bars for better control in corners. Gray goes upstairs. Jason and I modify Gray's CX... Art of Cafe Racer.
Took battery out. Fitted a Battery Eliminator. Kick start only now. Starts 2nd kick. Took the very nice NEW tracker seat off. It will go on my daughter's GS125 build. Fitted the old ratty chopper seat that has been on my other bikes. Mounted the number plate so it is more up right.
Did a short 50 odd kilometer ride yesterday with 2 mates. First time I have ridden Rusty off my commute route. Rode out to Killcare from Gosford. What a hoot this little bike is to ride. Being a single 223cc cylinder bike you have to plan corners and gear changes. Same for up hill. For me this makes riding way more enjoyable. I can't stop smiling when I ride it.
Ordered a black tracker seat from Prapaporn Sangsongfa at Motosai http://www.motosai.com.au/ on Monday for Rusty. Seat arrived yesterday. Fitted last night. Highly recommend both the seat and Motosai. Really like how it looks and feels.
When you buy a bike that has already been customised the challenge is to make it your own. Accepted the challenge. Made a small fairing out of some old body work from a Gilera scooter.
Lulu the seller of Rusty rode all the way up here from Sydney to drop the bike off. Huge big thanks to her for this. Already started to change things. Went for a ride first. Changed mirrors, moved the seat back and fitted smaller tail light. Here. Small changes happen.
So "Bender" goes bye bye tomorrow night and on Saturday" Rusty" the Yamaha Scorpio 225 arrives thanks to Lulu Lopez from Sydney Cafe Racers group. As much as I want the DR500 on the road ASAP I need a bike to get to and from work on so a down size to this is perfect. Look a bike that needs very little done to it by me. Can i stand the shock? Time will tell.
