Some say I am a hipster that wears red flannel.

I have noticed on the net that some people have been sharing my work on my Transalp. Comments have been reported to have said I am a hipster and that I must also wear a red flannel shirt becuase of what i have done to my bike. I didn't know that there are purists in the Transalp world. I know there are in the BMW airhead world. I have upset them too in the past. This is what I have to say in reply. And for the record yes I do wear a red flannel shirt in winter. It keeps me warm.

My scribbling in print.

Can't say enough how great it is to see my scribbling in paper print. Chops from Dirty Love Magazine  has published my write up photos from the Good Friday Bankstown Bike show. Latest Issue #4. Buy a copy. Great read. Great kustom bikes. I am very grateful to him for this. Cheers mate. Buy future issues too when they come out. More of my writings and photos will be featured.

New skid lid...

Way back in the dark mists of my riding history, 1979, I had a Bell Helmet. It was my first helmet. It was yellow. Yellow makes you safer as it is easier to see. This is what my parents told me when I went to pick a helmet. HAHAHAHAHAHA. See how awesome I looked back then on that power house of a 125. Today I got my second Bell helmet. It ain't yellow. It's a very awesome 500 Custom "Bonneville" Skratch inspired black open face.  The lining is way better than more expensive helmets I have seen.  I have a weird shaped head and find that some helmets do not sit well on my melon. This one is so comfy.   Top marks Bell.

MOTORCYCLES ARE THE SOLUTION TO THE WORLDWIDE PROBLEM OF CONGESTION AND POLLUTION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 16 February 2012 SCIENTISTS AGREE THAT MOTORCYCLES ARE THE SOLUTION TO THE WORLDWIDE PROBLEM OF CONGESTION AND POLLUTION The NSW Motorcycle Alliance is pleased to finally see a peer-reviewed scientific study that confirms what riders have been claiming, and road authorities have been ignoring, for years. More motorcycles results in lower congestion, quicker travel time and less pollution. The detailed study by Belgian consultancy, Transport & Mobility Leuven has found that even the slightest shift in traffic composition from cars to motorcycles significantly reduces traffic congestion and emissions. Thus the answer to the world’s urban traffic congestion may be as simple as creating intelligent policies that promote motorcycle commuting and riding, rather than treating motorcycling as some kind of social problem that needs to be solved by social engineering. The study, which was presented at the Association des Constructeurs Européens...

The road to meditation.

I have deep sense of peace over me at the moment. No I have not just spent the last few hours in deep meditation. Even though this would have been most desirable. I have just come back from a 110km ride with Jan as pillion. 110kms is not a lot of distance travelled.  Some would even scoff at how far I have gone this morning. I don’t really care. My biking soul needed this ride. I commute to work on the bike everyday. This commute is only about 10 to 20 minutes each way. It is the bike riding equivalent to breathing. We breath to exist. So my commute to and from work is to exist. Nothing dramatic about it like breathing. I needed a ride on country back roads. My bike soul needed to feel the bike underneath me hammering along tight and narrow back roads. I needed corners to fly through. Needed to climb up hills and hear the bike on song. To feel the bike let go a wee bit in a damp corner. Hear loose gravel binging off my exhaust system. To have the air rushing at my face to...
